I’m sure September 11th, 2001 Is a day none of us will forget But powerful forces we could not see then Are still changing lives even yet! A man named Robert Matthews Tells this story so people will know That God is present in our lives No matter where we go…. A few weeks before that awful day The Matthews got the wonderful word That she was expecting their first child They were just overjoyed when they heard! She planned a trip to see her sister In California right away They were driving to the airport On that beautiful September day They’d just finished asking God To see her safely there and home When a telltale pop let them both know That the left rear tire had blown And although Robert changed it quickly In the end, she missed her flight Very upset they drove back home Feeling that nothing had gone right! When they returned, a call came in Robert’s father was on the line He’d been in the New York Fire Department Till his retirement at 59…. What number was his daughter-in-law’s flight? Robert told him and how they’d been late!! “Thank goodness, son” his father then said She’s been spared an awful fate!! With a shaken voice he told his son That the plane she’d been scheduled to fly Had crashed into the south tower Robert fought down the urge to cry!! But his father still had news to tell “I’m going down there,” he said “There’s no way I can just sit by With so many dying and dead!!” continued >> |
