New Year 2010 Must Be
Declared The Year of Peace

First of all I want to present my
greeting to all the peace lovers
of the world on the New Year.
Please call for declaration of 2010
as the year of peace. This will be the
best way of achieving that peace.
Today I have sent a letter to
Barack Obama. I want to share that
letter with you.

Dear Barack Obama,
President of United States,
White House,
Washington

Respected Sir,

Please accept my warmest greeting
on the New Year. Please accept greeting
from my wife Fatima and my children.
We shall be praying that New Year may
bring peace and happiness to the whole
world.

Let a declaration state
"The Year that
Peace was Born"
and I would begin it
"Out of the fire of war intended to halt
the cowardice of terrorists and
governments who sanction terror, comes
a new concept that our world has not
seen in quite a while. It is the idea that
Peace and Freedom can ring side by side
and that all of Humanity can be free
from the curse of oppression."

We in Pakistan have seen our homes and
villages destroyed. In America, your
citizens have faced the scourge of
terrorists coming to their shores.

It has been a time where all of us, citizens
and tribesmen alike, face evil and injustice.

I lost my home in a military operation; when
I and my wife discovered it was destroyed
by the army of my own Country, we were
horrifed! In my life I never thought I'd see
the day my own country destroyed my land
and my property. My people are a proud
tribe of the Uthmankehl, and we did nothing
to deserve this.

Now we hope the new year will bring peace
to the United States, tribal areas situated on
Pak-Afghan border and whole world.

Love and blessing
Yours sincerely,
Muhammad Khurshid

Barack Obama
President of United States

White House
Washington, DC

Dear Mr. President,

Please accept the warmest wishes of both my husband
& myself.   We have been and will continue to pray for
your safety and success...and, in this new year of 2010,
we would add another fervent prayer!
We shall be praying that this New Year may
bring peace and happiness to the entire
world.

Please have the year 2010 officially designated as "
The
Year that
Peace was Born
" !!

"
Out of the fire of war intended to halt
the cowardice of terrorists and
governments who sanction terror, comes
a new concept that our world has not
seen in quite a while. It is the idea that
Peace and Freedom can ring side by side
and that all of Humanity can be free from the curse of
oppression; free to live in harmony with one another at
last!
"

People in Pakistani tribes have seen their homes and
villages destroyed. In America, we have faced the
scourge of terrorists coming to our shores and
suffering losses such as 9/11.  I could go on and on...

It has been a time where all of us, citizens
and tribesmen, people of all faiths and cultures, face
evil and injustice.

IThis letter-writing campaign was started by my friend
Muhammad Khurshid who lost his home in a military
operation;   when he and his wife discovered it was
destroyed by the army of their own country, they were
horrifed!   His people are a proud tribe of the
Uthmankehl, and did nothing to deserve such
treatment.
Their tragic story is repeated in many different
countries and cultures all over the globe every day.

So, we hope and pray that this new year will bring
peace not only to the U.S. but to the  whole planet!

Peace has to start somewhere Mr.
President...is it too much to ask that we "let it begin
with us?"

Yours sincerely,
