| CRUCIFIED!! |
He was such a gentle man Quiet and soft-spoken Almost too unassuming To be Heaven's Holy Token! But prophecies must be fulfilled That's why He came to earth So mankind would know exactly What the Father thought they're worth! He learned to be a Carpenter As he grew to be a man... Wood and tools no stranger To those slender, healing hands... And on the day that He turned 30, He left His family and His home His destiny was to travel first But not to be alone... As He went along the way He said to certain ones He'd see; "Leave it all...drop what you're doing Come now and follow Me..." He and His little band of friends Traveled both far and near He healed the sick and raised the dead His Holiness crystal clear! He preached a different message That God's kingdom was at hand He claimed He was the Son of God The world's sacrificial Lamb!! Most did not understand Him Or the simple way He lived Teaching that to enter Heaven We must be willing to forgive! His miracles were endless He fed thousands on a hill Walked on water in the rain Bade a storm cease and be still! Word about this wondrous One Spread quickly far and wide And He knew there were many Who would not take His side... And sure enough, His days were numbered For in the end He was betrayed By one who claimed to love Him And so the circumstance was laid... Arrested, whipped and ridiculed Still, this gentle Holy Man Showed no anger and did not resist His accusers taunting hands... Sentenced to crucifixtion Burdened with the heavy cross Forced to march up Calvary's Hill Toward agony, death and loss! They hammered nails through palms & feet Anchoring Him to the wood Then strained to raise it upright Until there it finally stood... |
| High atop that lonely hill Before the jeering, hooting crowd Jesus gathered His remaining strength To cry out, strong and loud: "Father! Please forgive them! For they know not what they do!!" Back then, I guess they didn't But that's no longer true! These days we have no excuse For every time we choose to sin We say His suffering didn't matter And we turn our backs on Him! It's exactly like we're saying, That we have chosen sides And we don't care how much He suffered Or even that He died! So if you love Him and appreciate All the pain they put Him through And if you believe with all your heart That He willingly died for you? Then you'll defend His Name & Kingdom Against evil, doubt or sword And proudly proclaim to all the world That Jesus IS the Risen Lord!! |
