I think a lot of folks nowadays? Are just a bit confused They read the Bible thinking That they're free to pick and choose! "Well, that commandment's easy And these two should be a breeze... But this one's just not doable It would put me in a squeeze!" This handy view they seem to have Must be of their own concoction... These are the 10 Commandments, gang That means they're laws...not options! I've read each one through and through Not just once...but quite a lot! Never read, "I wish you wouldn't..." What they say is "THOU SHALT NOT!" The language always struck me As plain and most clear-cut! Listing what we must and must not do With not a single "if" or "but"! However folks will still insist That some cannot be obeyed... Citing exceptions to every rule But that's not how God's game is played! You can't love Him 'just a little' Or enough to 'just get by' When they nailed Jesus to that cross? He didn't "sort of" die! He suffered a long and painful death To pay the debt you owe! So will you now ignore His words Pretending you didn't know? The Bible leaves no doubt at all You've known it from the start Each time you try to 'bend a rule?' You break the Savior's heart! He gave all He had for you Without a moment's hesitation.. Hoping one day you could join Him For a Heavenly celebration! So is obedience too much effort? Does it put you on the spot? That's like an R.S.V.P to Heaven Saying, "Thanks....I'd rather not!" If I were you? I'd think it over... Consider the options from all sides...
