| OCTOBER 23, 2011 I know, I know ....it's been so long that I'm amazed the page is even still up & running!! I have no excuse except that it's been a long, crazy summer!! God put me back to work right in the nick of time....and even tho it's only part-time it's right smack in the middle of the day so it's a bit hard to get anything else done! Not that I'm complaining mind you!!! He's always right on time!! One more week and my unemployment checks were going to run out! But, now that my 2-year stretch of joblessness is finished, looking back? I can see, I think, what the Lord had in mind. While I was OUT of work, I had not much else to do EXCEPT work on our beloved Front Porch....which has undergone some major changes if I do say so myself!! Not a single new story or poem...but new pages galore!! It's morphed from a spiritually poetic database to a thriving community; discussion pages, a daily Bible study, 2 more regular columnists, with a 4th due to maker her debut any day now, I've added a SIGN OF THE DAY as a regular feature, plus an mailbox so folks can email me privately if they need to, instead of shouting it out for the world to read in the chatbox!! And all this led to visitor demand for a new, improved and LARGER bulletin board to hold everything!! SHEESHH!!! Back soon....seriously!!! I'm gonna try to add an entry at least twice a week from now on... Next time? I'll tell y'all about a really cool Godwink that happened at the office where I'm working now!! it was a real WOW!! | OCTOBER 25, 2011 Ok....let's here it for me!!! 2 entries in less than a week!! First? Let me extend a big Front Porch welcome to our newest columnist, Diane from San Diego!! She's writing a monthly article for us starting this morning --- go check it out!! I'm more & more convinced that God knew exactly what He was doing when I was out of work for so long!! The porch has exploded!! And now that I'm BACK to work....stuff keeps happening that shows me WHY He put me where He did! Ended up working with an old friend at this new office & since we're both early arrivers, we get to have coffee & chat out on the deck before the rest of the gang start filtering in. Well, one day a few weeks ago, we were doing just that & he happened to mention that things weren't going REAL well. (He'd left one job to take this one and wasn't sure it would work out!) I told him that he probably ended up here for the same reason I did....Jeremiah 29:11 !!! "For I know the plansI have for you" says the Lord. "Plans to prosper and not to harm you Plans to give you hope and a future!" He said He found it hard to trust anybody. And I informed Him that God wasn't ANYbody. Trusting God doesn't come naturally to people...we're wired to believe we can do it all on our own. Most of us view trusting others as a sign of weakness! That's why it's a habit that has to be developed!! (to be continued) |
