| GOD'S CHILDREN |
Christians call the Father God Some faiths call Him Lord Each religion claims its true And defends it with the sword In the East His name is Allah He's Jehovah to some others I think we all have missed the point That each of us are brothers Muslims kneel 5 times a day Baptists worship twice a week Some Catholics every morning To give praise, so to speak And each of these religions Professes to be the only one... Thinking they're so precious in His sight That He sacrificed His Son Now I have read the Bible In my life a time or two... And I don't recall God saying That Christ died for just a few The way I understood it God's love for man was strong So Jesus died to save ALL men Correct me if I'm wrong... He didn't say "Just for Mormons Or Presbyterians or Jews" He gave His life for all of us Not just a certain few To God, each and every one of us Is the same....of equal worth Yet how many millions have been killed In His Name on this earth? Jesus showed us how to live That much is very true And all the different things He taught Can be summed up in just two! The first is Love the Lord thy God And the second....Love each other But we can't hear...we're much too busy Always quarreling with one another! Instead of going by the Bible We used trial and deduction Ignoring that old saying: "When all else fails...read instructions! And I'd say fail is what we've done Completely and miserably so Tried to do it by ourselves And we have a splendid mess to show A zillion denominations Each proclaiming, "We're the one!" |
But titles will be worthless When all is said and done For when we reach those Pearly Gates... I seriously doubt we hear "Catholics line up to the left.. Jews right and Hindus rear!" I think its much more likely That no one will even ask "Which religion are you? Did you go to synagogue or Mass?" I'll bet the only question is "Do you have a reservation?" And how many of us could respond Without a moments hesitation? For the only answer they'll accept Is what sets faithful ones apart: "Yes! I have a reservation... Jesus wrote one on my heart!" So if you can't remember when God issued the invitation? I'd hit my knees right here and now And beg Him for salvation! And if your pride's so blinding That you can't see God's love showing? If I were you, I'd buy some fans It's mighty hot where you'll be going! Dusty Richardson c 2001 |
