When you think of problems... What first pops in your head? Which one can weigh so heavy It feels like a coat of lead? It shouldn't be a puzzle For we all from time to time Have suffered from the feeling That is the topic of this rhyme It can mount and multiply Like a tower you have built You lug it with you everywhere It's name is simply....GUILT! Each and every bad decision That we ever chanced to make Returns to haunt us; guaranteed To make our conscience quake! 'What should have beens' keep company With a thousand, 'Why did I's?' Hind sight....is it a blessing? Or just torment in disguise? An act from thirty years ago Can still make the doer weep.. Convinced that they must bear the blame They lose countless nights of sleep! We should all just lighten up Guilt's a total waste of time! The past is gone...it can't be changed Keep that thought in mind! Every one who lives until The age of thirty or any higher And claims to have no guilt at all? Trust me....they're a liar! Occasional twinges of guiet guilt Are an inevitable part of life But when it overshadows everything It just adds to daily strife! You did things wrong, OK...so what? Get over it...move along! Wouldn't life be extremely dull If no one were EVER wrong?? To err is human...it's been said By now it should be clear... No one's perfect except the Lord Who does not live down here! God doesn't demand perfection All He asks is that we try... When you fall, get right back up For one day, we ALL will fly! Life's a struggle, not a contest We'll each face both wins and loss.... And the Father doesn't grade on the curve But rather, on the Cross!! Dusty Richardson c 1999 |
