Folks these days are so hung up
On achieving happiness
They often overlook the fact
That sometimes more is less!
"A bigger house is what I need!"
"A better job...more pay!"
"If only I could lose some weight
Happiness would come my way!"
They see it as elusive
Like the rainbow's golden pot
But real happiness isn't measured
By what you have or haven't got!!
Some see it as a platform
A far-off place at journey's end
The lofty goal they strive to reach
On which their success depends...
Those who spend entire lives
Trying to gain that high plateau?
Will find out to their sorrow
What the wise already know!
Happiness is not a destination
Rather, it's the WAY you travel
Race through life at breakneck speed?
And you'll spin out on the gravel!
Folks who've found true happiness
Know it's impossible to measure:
A perfect rose,  a child's love
Things worth more than treasure!
Sit and watch the seasons change
Witness Mother Nature in her glory
Note the wonder of a snowflake
Feel the magic in a story...
If you waste life always struggling
To get somewhere you haven't been?
You may find disappointment
Waiting at your journey's end!
So leave behind the frantic pace
The senseless struggle to achieve
"Things" will not make you happy
And that you can believe!!
Live the moment... here & now
Enjoy every minute of TODAY!!
No one is guaranteed tomorrow
Enjoy what comes your way!
After all, you woke up healthy
Able to walk, see, & love
Many didn't.....don't take for granted
The blessings  flowing from above!
