LITTLE THINGS
LITTLE THINGS

As you take this journey
That we've come to know as Life?
Pay attention to the little things
Scattered through the joys and strife
The smell of coffee in the morning
The taste of sugar on your tongue
The way it feels to laugh out loud
Hug a friend or really run!
The fire's warmth,  some cooling rain
A sunset's flaming red...
Snowflakes as they flutter down
Feeling full and overfed!
An unexpected phone call
From a friend who's miles away
These and a million other things
That make up every day!
We all remember milestones
Graduations, weddings, births
But memories are also little things
That give our lives such worth
Like the time you sat and listened
To an old friend as she cried;
All you could do was share her pain
When someone she loved had died...
Or the day you stopped & gave your
coat
To that homeless woman on the train?
She was shivering, but you felt warm
As she thanked you in His Name...
Little slices of real life
Like a collage of photographs
That all blend together over time
To form a mural of our past...
Some are good and some are bad
Others simply in between
But one day you will realize
Just how much each one means!
For one connects with all the others
To form just who we are
The effects of even a single life
Can be felt near and far!
Someones' day made brighter;
A painful sorrow eased...
A lesson not forgotten,
A child that you once pleased...
We don't always know the outcome
The results aren't always clear
But it's enough to know the world is
better
Simply 'cause we once were here!
