| MISGUIDED! |
Some folks have a habit Especially when they pray Of ensuring they are always first My needs, my choice, my way!! They seem to think they're wiser Than the Father up above Choosing not to ask for simple things Like His strength and grace and love They pray instead exclusively For concrete, material gain Houses, cars, big bank accounts To wipe out financial strain! Their requests are nearly always Completely based on greed They do not trust the Lord at all To provide the things they need! Yet they claim to be Christians I'm impressed with their disguise! It's ruined only by the little things Like those dollar signs in their eyes! Their conversations with the Lord Are punctuated with decimal points They'll bargain and try to dicker Till their noses are out of joint "You give me this....and I'll do that!" They really have some nerve! They'd be left completely speechless If they got what they deserve! They seldom read their Bibles Those are stored on upper shelves "Love thy neighbor?" Not these folks! They can't see past themselves! And when requests aren't granted In the way that they expected? They whine and pout, then shake their fists And declare themselves neglected! That's when they denounce God in anger These people who can least afford And someday I'm afraid they'll learn They shouldn't have second guessed the Lord!! Dusty Richardson |
