OK...Here we go again
It happens all the time
Some critic asks a question
And I answer with a rhyme

When folks ask if I'm a Christian
Responding YES just guarantees
Them asking which church I attend
So I'm forced to make them see...

That formal worship's not my thing
I won't be classified
But I'm sure who my Savior is
And I know why He died!

I always try to do my best
To follow His example
A lot of "churches" don't do that
If what I've seen's a sample

Born a Catholic, then I switched
Seeking out religious fruit...
But being a Baptist didn't last
Seems my clothing didn't suit!

And outside in the parking lot
A lady asked, "Are you born again?"
I told her "I was born ok the first time
For God decided where and when!"

And synagogue was hopeless
Too many prayers to memorize
While Holy Rollers play with snakes
And that didn't seem really wise...

Methodists, Presbyterians
All these and many more...
Thought about Jehovah's Witnesses
But I hate to knock on doors!

Islam, Episcopalians
Buddists and Orthodox Greek
Every religion thinks they alone
Are fit to hear God speak...

Just pick a random Sunday morning
Flip on any tv station
You'll find dozens of  preachers ranting
About hellfire and damnation

Mormons and Moravians
With traditions old and quaint..
I even ordered a Bible once
From the Church of Latter Day Saints

But in the end, I just decided
To read the Good Book and to pray
I love Jesus with all my heart
And we talk every day

He's given me the gift of rhymes
That I scribble to spread His Word
About who Christ is and what He did
To anyone who hasn't heard!

I always try my very best
To walk the path He trod
I share His love with all I meet
And leave the judging up to God

When I sin, I beg forgiveness
And I believe with all my heart
That Jesus is my Savior
And that's where Salvation starts!

As for those who do not get it
Say I’m condemned if I don’t choose?
I pray THEY find enlightenment
They have much more than I to lose!!
