Every person on this earth Was born neck deep in debt Sin is part of who we are There's no built-in safety net Adam & Eve began this trend When they opened Pandora's box Condemning us to a chain of sin Complete with dead bolt locks! And in the Bible it is written That the wages of sin are death So we're facing a tropical punishment As soon as we draw a breath! But God the Father loved us so That He couldn't bear to see His children sentenced to Hell below For all of eternity... But what to do? The Word was law It was too late now to change.. The penalty had been carved in stone Impossible to re-arrange! Then the Son of God spoke up "Father, what Scripture says is true... But it doesn't say WHO has to pay Let Me save them all for You!!" Then Jesus came to earth for us With a love that was so divine That His sacrifice on Calvary Hill Changed history for all mankind! And even though we're sinners Who try day after day To please God and improve ourselves As we kneel and beg and pray Our efforts may be most sincere But they'll never be good enough To meet the standards up in Heaven Because salvation's rules are tough! For none of us is perfect We all make regrettable choices And God has the total of all our sins Listed on heavenly sheet invoices But that is not a problem When it comes to push and pull For each is stamped with the Blood of Christ And what it says is PAID IN FULL!
