The other day I heard someone Explain why they never prayed She said, “My life’s so full of sin God wouldn’t listen anyway! Some things I did when I was young Even now I can’t admit And still today I have my faults Stuff I should …but cannot quit! And yes, I’ve heard the sermons About a merciful, loving Father But I’m sure even Heaven has a limt So why should I even bother?” My first thought was to tell her How far she was off track! No one alive has sinned too much For God to pull them back! He sent down His only Son Who died to pay the price For all sin…no exceptions What an awesome sacrifice! He didn’t say, “But not for this” Or “That one’s not forgiven Just believe and sin is cancelled Even those you thought well-hidden! Jesus died to save us all No matter what we’ve done The agony he suffered through Was for all sinners….everyone!” But before I got the words out Something made me hesitate… Would she even listen to me? Or was it even now too late? She probably won’t believe me If I tell her what I know… No doubt she’d just ignore it all I’d be wise to let it go… But that night as I knelt to pray I heard God’s voice inside my soul… “Why didn’t you speak up for Me? Isn’t that your earthly role? It breaks My heart each time I see A lost soul filled with doubt But it causes Me even greater pain When one who DOES know shuts them out! If you claim to be My child How can you turn away? When someone says I couldn’t love them? You know what you should say!! Tell them the story of salvation How no sin is “too bad” To be forgiven by the Father Whose Son gave all He had! If they take your words to hart And let My love inside… Then they’ll receive eternal life And if not? At least you tried! As long as you are there on earth As a Christian…you’re duty-bound To reach out to unbelievers Wherever they are found!" Then my tears began to fall As I knelt there in quiet shame He gave everything He had for me Yet….I did not speak His name!! So now I do not hesitate Every minute of every day To share His love with all I meet Through what I write and do and say! I never let a single chance To reach them pass me by.. I use my Bible and my pen To answer every what and why! Plus I pray my every effort As well as each new verse I write Will spread His message near & far Leading more souls to His light!!
