THE BOAT...another story that was sent to me anonymously...I didn't
particularly like the ending so i took a bit of poetic license and changed it just a tad!!
The author of the original story is unknown, but the rhyme is mine....hope you enjoy it!!

The service that evening was totally packed
As crowded as crowded could be
Ushers searched in vain for any unused seat
But not even one could they see
As the pastor approached the oak pulpit
Signaling the service had begun
He said “I must make an announcement
About what is scheduled to come!

It is my pride to introduce to you
A very dear, very close friend of mine
And have him speak to all of you here
Tonight while we still have the time”
At that, an elderly gentleman
Who’d been seated at the end of a row
Gingerly stood up and began making his way
Towards the pastor…his gait was quite slow

The old man looked at the faces, all waiting
Saying, “I have a story to tell you all
It is a true one, of that I am sure
Not a myth or some tale wild and tall
Once there was a loving father
Who had three daughters and a single son
The boy was his father’s shadow
And clearly his favorite one!

One summer day, the father contrived
To take his son and one other boy
Down to the shore for a day on the boat
The youngsters were both overjoyed!
They’d been best friends since grade school
And now that they were both in their teens
They were still inseparable, still best of friends
Sharing everything, their hopes and their dreams

The weather was perfect as they sailed along
The ocean was smooth and quite calm
Until out of nowhere storm clouds sprang up
Thunder peals sounding loud as a bomb!
The wind became savage as it tossed the small
boat
And whipped the waves into towering walls
The lightning was fierce and relentless
As the strong rains pelted them all!
