The first tree’s wood was used to make
A batch of feed troughs rough and crude
All stacked to sell at market
Cribs to hold farm animals food

This was far from the original dream
Of holding precious, expensive gold
Ending up instead a tray for grain

Feeding villagers sons and daughters

The third tree’s dream of being tallest

Her husband thought, “At least we’re warm!”

He spied a wooden feeding box
In a corner of one stall
He filled it up with fragrant hay
Then lined it with a shawl

Into this wooden make-shift cradle
He laid the new-born Babe…his Son
The greatest treasure in all the world
The Messiah had finally come!

Years later when this Baby Boy
Had grown to be a Man
He surrounded Himself with followers
According to His Father’s plan

He traveled performing miracles
And people flocked from everywhere
To see and touch this Healer
Who taught with parables and prayer
