| THE GOOD DEED pg 2 |
Then the manager of the store Who'd seen what had taken place Came up to whisper to the homeless man And a smile lit up his face! He looked at me...."We have a opening We need someone to mop the floors Do the trash and general clean up Here and at two other stores!" Then the gentleman who'd assisted me Stepped up as well to say... You'll need a room and I have one For what you can afford to pay!" The little man walked me to my car Saying “thank-you” again and again Kept calling me Miss Angel I left waving to my new friend A few weeks later, I was back At that same little store To my suprise my little friend Met me proudly at the door! He wore a clean, pressed uniform He was neat and most well-groomed His beaming smile made him look Like a rose in sudden bloom! "Things must be going great!" I said He nodded, "I have a job now and a home! For the first time in so many years I can stand up on my own!! And it's all because of you!" He said I replied, "No...others did their part!" He smiled, "But it all started With a kindness from YOUR heart!" I will never forget you, Miss Or the string of miracles you began The day you took the time to stop And help a homeless man I'll do my best to guarantee That what you started will continue I'll spend my life helping others It's the least that I can do! |
