| THE LOSER.... |
| THE LOSER.... Satan sat upon a mountain That overlooked the world Absently he clutched his tail Causing it to twitch and twirl He rubbed his hands in satisfaction As he gave an evil grin... "There's no doubt that I'm in charge With the mess the world is in!" Tickled pink, he laughed out loud "Bigotry, murder, loss Drugs and crimes and suicides All this proves that I'm the boss! Worldwide famine, terrible wars Weapons of mass destruction All because these foolish souls Rush to follow my instructions!" He clapped his hands and did a dance To express his great delight "I'd say God's on a losing streak In this game of wrong and right!!" Then the sky above the mountain Grew dark with thunderous clouds Lightning flashed as the voice of God Rang out strong and loud: "Not so fast...oh spiteful one You're not as clever as you seem For every soul that you corrupt Another thousand join MY team! Because each catastrophe you have wrought With every pain-filled tragedy Countless souls from everywhere Have finally turned to Me..." Then satan's grin became a scowl As he furiously cursed the Lord "Thanks to me...mankind is doomed Millions die by guns and swords!!" The Lord replied, "That much is true... But death is not the end... And those millions with their dying breath Cry out for ME...my friend! And when the score is tallied up On the day My Son returns; The mighty line that forms for Heaven Will dwarf the thread of those who'll burn!" |

The devil screeched in outrage At the thought that he might lose This ancient tug-of-war for souls Because mankind was free to choose! "And furthermore," the Lord went on "The score is two to nothing! You lost when Michael cast you out And again that Easter morning! Your days of senseless vengeance Will soon be on eternal hold For I weary of this battle The outcome's been foretold... So begone Satan, while you can With your pathetic chain of sin..... For against the love of Jesus Christ You never stood a chance to win!!" Dusty Richardson 2001 |
