| THE RAINY DAY...PG 1 This was a story I read online one day written by the pastor himself. I can't remember his name but if anyone knows it or recognizes the story please email and let me know so I can give him credit here. I decided to make it rhyme but the story and the credit go to Samuel and his Dad, while the Savior gets the glory!! |
The city was of medium size With an average population Like so many others to be found Across this mighty nation It had churches big and small Meeting houses, temples, synagogues Places of worship all One of the smaller buildings When construction was finally done Had no title.....just a sign Saying "JESUS welcomes everyone!" This tiny church was always packed Each Sunday at eleven To hear the reverend as he spoke Of Jesus, God and Heaven The preacher was a man of God That much was crystal clear He'd moved in with his wife and kids To make this small church his career... Reaching souls for Jesus And spreading God's love to all Was this minister's goal in life To him...there was no soul too small And every sunday after church This pastor, with Samuel, his son Would walk the city with Bible tracts Explaining Jesus and all that He'd done The boy loved these weekly excursions With his dad out there on the streets Introducing Christ to folks everywhere Almost everyone they happened to meet But there came to pass one Sunday When the weather turned bitterly cold The mercury dropped causing torrents of rain To coat roads with ice and with snow But arriving home after the service The pastor still found his youngest son Preparing the booklets for their usual trip Just the way they always had done "Hold on there Sam," the pastor exclaimed "We'll not take our walk today! The weather is foul and the ice is quite bad Here at home is where we will stay!" But Samuel looked up at his father With a look of alarm in his eye... "Dad, if someone dies without Jesus Is he saved cause it rained when he died?" The pastor looked quietly down at his son And could not find the words to say no... "I can see that no matter what I might say You are quite determined to go! So bundle up well and promise me this To be as careful as you possibly can The weather is awful and dangerous too Not fit for a boy or a man!!" |
