THE RING   PAGE 1

Michael knelt in solemn prayer
Near the bed…  his wedding eve...
To thank God for the love he'd found
It was still hard to believe!
Emily was his everything
All he'd dreamed of and much more
He asked God to bless his marriage
And the life that lay in store!

It had all worked out so wonderfully
He was drawn to her from the start
In less than the twinkling of an eye
This woman had won his heart
That first night they’d talked for hours
Sharing the secrets of their souls
Michael told her he was a Christian
Explained how Heaven was his goal

At first Emily had only shrugged
Saying, "God 's never been in my life!"
But Michael smiled as he took her hand
Saying, “ He’s chosen you as my wife!"
He told her then of Jesus
How much He'd suffered for our sins
Emily touched his cheek & softly said
"I wish I had that faith within!"

Throughout  the several months that followed
With the help of his Mom and his Dad...
Michael introduced Emily to the Savior
The One who gave all that He had
And so Emily listened & came to believe
That though she'd no family of her own
She had a Father who loved her very much
That she'd never been really alone!

She came to know how God and His love
And the faith shining in Michael’s eyes
Was something she too, could be part of
As she began to realize...
That she herself, was a child of God
And she could share as Michael's wife
In the promise of Heaven's Salvation
And the joy of eternal life!

Her inlaws-to-be were delighted
She and Sarah, Michael's mother, grew close
And as the day of the wedding drew nearer
It was Sarah she confided in most!
Michael borrowed enough from his father
To purchase their wedding ring set
Two wide golden bands with initials engraved
Stood for memories they'd never forget!

The day of the ceremony was perfect
The sky was clear and brilliant, bright blue
As they said the time-honored words before
God
They were joined in love sweet & true
The first few months of married life
Flew by quickly until the fall day
Emily sat and listened with wonder
To what the doctor had to say

As her heart overflowed with happiness
She could hardly contain her joy!
Their dream was suddenly coming true!
Of a precious baby girl or boy!!
Unable to wait one more minute
She called her mother-in-law on the phone
"Sarah!"  she exclaimed, "I must tell someone!
But MIchael's working & I'm at home!!"
