I can't believe the uproar Over such a simple thing! A best-selling book becomes a movie And warning bells start to ring Outraged parents are up in arms "It's an evil tale!" they cry They spit and sputter; point and shout Without saying exactly why-- The little boy's an orphan Forced to stay with mean relations Until a secret that's revealed Spells out his liberation! It seems his parents were both wizards And so is he, by right! A magical birthday rolls around And to his great delight He's sent away; he will attend A wizard's training school So he can learn about his craft Potions, spells and rules He makes some very loyal friends Discovers much about his past, Comes to respect his teachers And finds himself at last! He has many great adventures Too involved for just one book It becomes a children's series One chapter and kids are hooked! It's a wonderful, glorious tapestry Spun from a mom's imagination And children all around the globe Are reading with fascination! But certain parents are most upset They claim this story's bad!!! Containing witches, spells and magic And they are fuming mad!! They say that it will harm our kids And give the world cause to grieve For Heaven's sake people....get a grip! The story is MAKE BELIEVE! Stop and think for just a minute!! Please give your kids some credit! They can tell fact from fiction Whether they've seen, or heard or read it! If you're afraid your kids wil leave Christianity far behind Because of a simple story? Then quick!!! You still have time |
If you hurry..... to find a cave Somewhere far from civilization Where you can keep them safe & sound From such vile degradation!! God forbid they meet Harry Potter Or learn things that help them see The values of true friendship Or traits like valor and honesty!! In this modern, crazy world Where kids shoot kids at school It's REAL LIFE, not the movies That seems to be evil's fuel... The world they're forced to live in They have the right to blame on US Things much worse than little Harry Should spark an international fuss!! Rampant crime and child abuse The violence in our schools Hogwart's may be unconventional But students did not bring guns to school! Dangerous drugs are everywhere Pornography, war, disease!! If Harry's the worst they are exposed to You should thank-God on your knees! Most of what children will become Is what they learn at home...
